William Palmer Obituary

William "Bill" Palmer, 69, of Manchester, loving husband of 45 years of Patricia "Pat" Palmer, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, surrounded by his caring family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Hartford on July 14, 1943, a son of the late Ralph and Theresa (Cappiello) Palmer, he had been a resident of Manchester for the past 36 years. Prior to his retirement in 2008, Bill was employed by Flanagan Inc. in Glastonbury, where he was a dedicated hard worker for over 40 years. Bill was a talented whittler who made walking sticks and wood canes. He also made furniture and wind chimes for his home, collected and repaired clocks, and was a good cook known for his chili. He also loved going to tag sales and flea markets as a "bargain hunter," along with working in his garden and fishing.

Beside his beloved wife, Bill is survived by two sons, William Palmer, and his wife, Amy, and Joseph Palmer; a brother, Donald Ashner, and his wife, Lori, of East Hartford; a sister, Barbara McIntire of Enfield; three grandchildren, Adele, Aubrey, and Jacob Palmer; several nieces, nephews, former co-workers, and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

A private graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday at the High Street Cemetery in Dayville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bill's name may be made to the John A. DeQuattro Community Cancer Center, 73 Haynes St., No. A, Manchester, CT 06040.
