Joan (Farrell) Raymond, 77, of the Hazardville section of Enfield, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 18, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born on May 26, 1936, in Hartford, the daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Kearns) Farrell. Joan was a lifelong resident of Enfield. She graduated from Our Lady of Angels Academy and was a communicant of St. Bernard Church. Her family was the light of her life. She was affectionately known as Grandma and always had an open house for her family. Joan is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Howard Raymond; her loving children, Karen Burke, and her husband, Michael, of Enfield, Patricia Peltier of Enfield, William Raymond, and his wife, Christina, of Granby; and her son-in-law, Dean Bauer of Somers; her cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Chelsea, David, Nicholas, Elaina, Benjamin, and Ethan; her great-grandchildren, Brielle Peltier and Ryan Zagaski. She is also survived by her dear sister, Mary Elizabeth Calcasola, and her husband, Carlo, of Pompano Beach, Fla., and their children, Mary Ellen, Katie, and Carl. She was predeceased by two of her children, Theresa Raymond Bauer and Michael Raymond. A memorial Mass for Joan will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Leete Stevens Enfield Chapels has been entrusted with her arrangements.
