Barbara Jane Arnold Hartmann, 81, of Edgewater, Fla., formerly of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at her home in Florida.
Barbara was born on Nov. 12, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Alice Isabel (Thompson) Arnold. She was the devoted wife of the late Irving L. Hartmann. Barbara attended the University of Connecticut, was a homemaker and mother. In her retirement, she enjoyed being part of the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of her community through church, volunteering, and traveling with friends. She was an avid reader and supporter of UConn Huskies women's basketball.
She is survived by her son's family, Jeffrey and AnnMarie Hartmann; her daughter's family, Sharon Hartmann and Daniel Ciak; and her other daughter's family, Kimberly Hartmann and Shawn O'Sullivan. She was the proud grandmother of Matthew Hartmann and wife, Tiffany, Taylor Hartmann, Nicole Moller and husband, Andrew, Stephen Blanchette and wife, Julie, Calla Riccio, and Steven Leonardo, and step-grandchildren, Jennifer O'Sullivan and Katharine Spadacenta and husband, Peter. She was also the proud great-grandmother of seven children, Andrew Moller, Steven Moller, Kirsten Moller, Aubrielle Blanchette, Marisa Blanchette, Ryder O'Sullivan, and Acerra Spadacenta.
The Hartmann family extends much appreciation to Barbara's forever friends in Connecticut and her new friends of Edgewater, Fla. Your friendship was incredibly important to her over the years.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Elm Grove Cemetery on Poquonock Avenue, Windsor.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara can be made to Edgewater United Methodist Church, 204 Hubbell St., Edgewater, FL 32132.
