Barbara K. Salls

Barbara K. Salls, 85, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2013.

Barbara was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Portland, Maine, to the late John and Katherine (Gonyea) MacPherson. She was the loving wife of the late Frank Allison and the late Robert Salls.

In her younger years, Barbara was a champion roller skater at the Hartford Skating Palace, where she met her beloved Frank. She was employed by local banquet facilities including Marco Polo, AAA Diner, and Howard Johnson. She loved bingo and could be found any night of the week with cards in front of her ready to play.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, Kirk Allison, and his fiancée, Mary Shea, of East Hartford, Frank Allison of Hartford, Tracy LaFountain, and her husband, Doug, of East Hartford, and Jackie Allison of East Hartford; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Benjamin. In addition to her parents and spouses, Barbara is predeceased by her four brothers and two sisters, Donald, Alvin, Sterling, and Richard MacPherson, Phyllis Mantolesky, and Joyce Burghardt.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. all to take place at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford. Burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
