Carl C. Heal

Carl C. Heal, 82, of South Windsor, beloved husband of the late Arlene (Cooper) Heal, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at home.

Born in Camden, Maine, on Jan. 9, 1931, son of the late Arthur T. and Evelyn (Horton) Heal, he had lived in South Windsor for the past 55 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Before retiring he was a mechanic for Superior Spring, Hartford, for 33 years. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, cooking, and the Boston Red Sox. Carl was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, South Windsor.

He leaves his three children, Craig A. Heal of South Windsor, Bruce E. Heal of East Hartford, and Linda J. MacDonald of Manchester, N.H.; a brother, Robert R. Heal in Maine; a sister, Gertrude Cunningham of New Castle, Maine; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 239 Graham Road, South Windsor. Burial with military honors will be held at the State Veteran Cemetery, Middletown.

His family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
