Carol Anne (Quattropani) Meyerhardt, of Hebron, passed away at the Jefferson House in Newington on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with cancer. Family and friends were with her continuously during the last few days and hours of her life. Carol is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bill, whom she married on June 15, 1957, in Hartford.
She will be fondly remembered by her sister, Pauline "Babe" Dellhime and her husband, Gene, of East Hartford; sister, Lucia Peterson of Ocala, Fla.; son, Kurt Meyerhardt of South Windsor, daughter, Karen DeMonte and her husband, Frank, of South Windsor, daughter, Kimberly Warnick and her husband, Craig, of Chantilly, Va.; and sister-in-law, Elaine Magnee and her husband, John, of West Hartford. Carol was the loving Nonna to her grandchildren, Gianna and Nick DeMonte and Hannah and Nathan Warnick, as well as a beloved auntie to several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Quattropani.
Carol was born in Hartford on Oct. 25, 1936, to the late Frank and Pauline (Carpino) Quattropani. She graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1954 and then worked as a Service Records Clerk at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft with her long-time friends, Shirley and Marilyn. Carol raised her family in South Windsor with special friendships of her Lawrence Road neighbors, Armand and Anita, Joe and Verla, Ray and Irene, Shirley, and Kay. Carol enjoyed doing handcrafts, especially quilting, as well as reading, gardening, and genealogy research. Tireless hours of genealogy research were conducted at the Bloomfield Family History Center at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she made dear friendships with Tom, Carla, Pat, and Jane. Carol was especially proud of her Sicilian heritage and will be remembered for her selfless dedication to the needs and happiness of her family.
The family wishes to thank the staff of VNA Hospice and the Jefferson House with very special appreciation to Wioletta, Pam, Dianne, Gretchen, Bonnie, Mai, Giffti, Healina, and Stacey for their incredibly gracious, compassionate, and dignified care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Church of St. Mary, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington, with Father Joseph Keough officiating. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.
Family and friends may call at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor on Friday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m.
