Carolyn (Watson) Rumill, 88, a resident of Enfield for 59 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at home, with her loving family at her side.
Born on Aug. 30, 1924, in Seal Harbor, Maine, she was the loving daughter of the late Loring and Lena (Jordan) Watson, and beloved wife to late Richard 'Dick" Rumill. Carolyn was employed by Hamilton Standard in the shipping department for 22 years, retiring in 1987. Carolyn was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, served for many years on the Altar Guild and as a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, baking, and was a fan of the UConn women's basketball. She also enjoyed sailing on their boat, Sea Star, with her husband, Richard, on Long Island Sound. Carolyn will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving family, her children, Linda Cowen of Rockville, Brenda Baril, and her husband, Richard, of West Simsbury, Janice Allbee, and her husband, Bruce, of Suffield, David Rumill, and his wife, Kim, of Greenbank, Wash., and Rick Rumill of Enfield; her cherished grandchildren, Dara Baril, Kristyn Eck, Patrick Cowen, and Daniel Cowen; her precious great-grandchildren, Talaynah Penfield, Courtney Cowen, Camryn Eck, Connor Eck, and Caden Eck; also several nieces and nephews; especially, her two dogs, Star and Luna, who brought much joy to her life. Carolyn was predeceased by her brothers, Winfield, Reginald, and George Watson; and her sister, Dorothy Gray.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 383 Hazard Ave., Enfield.
