Charles R. "Chuck" Branchini Jr., 71, of Enfield, beloved husband of Patricia (Wilczek) Branchini for 42 years, entered into eternal peace Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.
The son of the late Charles R. Sr. and Anna (Pezzoli) Branchini, Chuck was born and raised in New Bedford, Mass. He and Pat moved to Enfield in 1972 where they raised their family. He was a longtime communicant of Holy Family Church where he taught CCD, was a crossing guard at the church, and lecturer. He was a U.S. Army
veteran, serving honorably during the Vietnam War
. Chuck was employed at Jonal Laboratories in Meriden for 18 years where he was plant engineer. In his free time, he was a car aficionado as he enjoyed attending car shows and especially enjoyed cruising in his 1985 Corvette. He also loved walking and biking around town. Family vacations at Cape Cod were special for Chuck where he spent time beach combing and taking long walks, soaking in the sun and salt air. Most important to him was his family, especially his loving grandchildren whom he adored.
Besides his wife, Pat, Chuck is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Branchini of Suffield, and Tristan Wandzy, and her husband, Tobey, (who was like a true son to Chuck), of Westminster, Vt.; his grandchildren, Payton, Lucy, and Sage Wandzy; a sister, Barbara Branchini of Fairhaven, Mass.; and many extended family, friends, and his co-workers at Jonal. He will also be missed by his loving feline companions, Merlin, Rena, and Elijah.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield. Please meet at church. Committal will be private. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
