Charlotte (Bill) Granniss, 97 years young, of Manchester, wife of the late Russell B. Granniss, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
Charlotte was born in Litchfield, daughter of William and Cora (Griffin) Bill. She was raised in Litchfield, graduating from Litchfield High School, and then worked as a secretary in a private girl's school. She moved to New Haven when she married Russell and worked at the New Haven Railroad office until moving to Manchester in 1948. Charlotte was a charter member of the Community Baptist Church in Manchester, was a choir member for 40 years, and was active in the Joy Circle.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Luchon of Ellington, and Jean Martin, and her husband, James, of Manchester; two grandsons, Stephen Luchon III, and his wife, Jennifer, of Ellington, and Scott Martin and Traci Atkins of Manchester; two great-grandsons, Gavin and Connor Martin.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Kuru and Dr. Hanna for their care over the years, and also a thank you to the staff at Crestfield and Manchester Memorial Hospital, and all her friends and neighbors who helped her through the years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, with burial to follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
