Dorothy K. Casadei

Our dear mom, Dorothy K. Casadei, 90, of Vernon died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Queens, N.Y., to the late Louis and Anna (Eisele) Kaltenbach. Dorothy taught kindergarten in both Vernon and Tolland for many years and ended her career as a guidance counselor. She was a communicant at Sacred Heart Church for many years and attended St. Bartholomew Church in later years. Dorothy was instrumental in the opening of Rose Commons Senior Living in Vernon. She loved her family and friends, playing bridge, traveling, and solving crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her children; Dorothy and her husband, Matthew Reiser, of Vernon, Chris and his wife, Moira Casadei, of Stonington, Mary Ann and her husband, Jeff Seroogy, of St. Croix, and Louisa Casadei-Johnson and her husband, Eric Johnson, of Rockport, Mass. She also leaves her grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Kirby, Dory, and Jeff and his wife, Traci Reiser, Chris and his wife, Jill, and Brie Casadei, Gena and Jeffrey Seroogy; and Eric and Anna Johnson; seven great-grandchildren; and several dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Geno; her brother, Louis; and her sister, Mildred.

Relatives and friends may join the family Thursday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 45 Ludlow Road, Manchester. A private burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Litchfield.
