Edward "Hagar" Cunningham, 52, of Vernon, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.
Born in Toronto, Canada, the son of Joan (Fitzpatrick) Cunningham of Lexington, Ala., and the late Patrick Cunningham, he grew up and lived in Manchester and Bolton before moving to Vernon years ago. He served in the U.S. Army
after graduating from Manchester High School, Class of 1978. He was employed at Connecticut Roofing Reps Inc. in East Berlin and also was an instructor at New England Tractor Trailer Training School in Somers for 11 years, where he on numerous occasions won Instructor of the Year. He was an avid bowler, with a perfect 300 game, and belonged to the Guys and Dolls League with Spare Time Bowling Alley in Vernon. Hagar was a very kind and gentle man who helped everyone.
In addition to his mother, Ed is survived by two brothers and a sister; several nieces and nephews; his goddaughter, Krystal Roye, and her husband, Joshua, of Vernon; his godson, Robbie Hanson, and his son, Bradon, of Norwich; and the three children, who won his heart, Nadiya, Sarah, and Jay Chaudhary of Bolton.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon, followed by a celebration of his life at the Veterans of Foreign Wars
