Eileen F. McGuinness

Eileen F. McGuinness, 83, of Somers entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Evergreen Health Care Center.

Born in Enfield on Sept. 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice (White) Fitzgerald. On April 29, 1950, Eileen was united in marriage to Matthew McGuinness, and they were married for almost 50 years before his passing on Sept. 22, 1999. Eileen was a communicant of All Saints Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, as well as the All Saints Council.

She leaves behind her five sons, Mark J. McGuinness and his wife, Kristin, of Jamestown, Tenn., Gary T. McGuinness and his wife, Carol, of Groton, Mass., Roger M. McGuinness of Norwich, Matthew R. McGuinness and his wife, Donna, of Willington, and John F. McGuinness; her three daughters and their husbands, Carol A. and Timothy Tyrrell of Phoenix, Ariz., Jean M. and Michael deBidart of Enfield, and Patricia A. and Kenneth Cote of Somers; her 18 grandchildren, Matthew and Emily Tyrell, Marc Ames, Stephen, Kelly, Andrew, Caitlin, Erin, Daniel, and Jessie McGuinness, Andrew and Adam Conway, Christine Black, Michael and Matthew deBidart, and Brian, Daniel and Tracey Cote; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Balboni of Somers; and her brother, Robert Fitzgerald and his wife, Lillian, of Enfield.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., prior to a procession to All Saints Church, 25 School St., for Eileen's Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Somers.

Her family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home.
