Elizabeth Stocinis Obituary

Elizabeth Stocinis, 82 of East Windsor passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Kimberly Hall Healthcare Facility, Windsor.

Elizabeth, the daughter of Lavina G. Reilly and John Joseph Reilly, was born on June 30, 1931. Elizabeth was one of 11 children. She attended Weaver High School and graduated in 1949. Upon graduation Liz worked for Travelers for a short time, where she was introduced to her husband Russell Stocinis. They were married in 1952 and had two daughters, Diane and Gail. Together they enjoyed traveling to the shore and camping for many years. Although Liz came from a large family she was more than grateful as her family continued to grow when Diane and Gail married and had children of their own. Russell and Liz adored their grandchildren and spent countless hours reading with them, coloring, canoeing on the lake, dancing on the deck, summer splashing, walking to parks, and watching sporting events. When Russell passed in 1996, Liz lost the love of her life, but she filled her time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending her time outdoors; gardening or walking. Liz was an avid UConn fan as well; she was committed to watching and cheering on both the men's and women's basketball teams. All who knew Liz knew how big her heart was and how much she truly loved her family. She was a strong woman who fought so hard up until the end. Her sarcasm and charisma was so enjoyed, as she always spoke her mind and encouraged all of us to always be ourselves. She was proud of her daughters and all of her grandchildren for all that they have accomplished.

Liz is survived by her daughters, Diane Stocinis and Gail LaChance and her husband, Dave LaChance; her grandchildren, Laura Krah, Gabrielle LaChance, Daniel Krah, Allison LaChance, and Melissa Krah; her great-grandson Leon Krah; her brother Robert Reilly and wife, Jane; her sister Beverly Strout; her sister Joan and husband, Lewis Compson; her brother Donald Reilly; her sister Mary Ellen and husband, Roger Fortier; her brother Gene and wife, Mary Reilly; her sister in-law Teresa Reilly; sister in-law Eleanor Reilly; and sister in-law Shirley Cowles; her many nieces and nephews; as well as her friends and neighbors. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Russell Stocinis; her brother John Reilly; her brother Joseph Reilly; her brother Richard Reilly; and her sister Margaret (Peg) Reilly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Church, 150 S. Main St., East Windsor, to celebrate and remember the life of Elizabeth.

A special thank you to all of the kind and caring staff members at Kimberly Hall Healthcare Center.
