Eloise Wharton Friday

After a very brief illness, Eloise Wharton Friday passed away this week in Enfield at the age of 102.

Eloise was predeceased by her husband, Jay Friday; and her brothers, William and Charles of Amsterdam, N.Y. She is survived by her sons, Charles and William (Mary) of Enfield and Bruce (Nancy) of Webster, N.Y.; grandchildren, Douglas and Donald Friday of Enfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Eloise loved to travel and, after her retirement in 1976, she traveled to many wonderful destinations making numerous friends along the way. She was an avid reader, quilter, and gardener who loved listening to Broadway musicals. As a young lady in Amsterdam, N.Y., she belonged to a regional theater group and played the lead role in a play opposite Kirk Douglas. She also played a mean game of gin rummy.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Suffield House who provided Eloise with loving care during her stay with them.

A family prayer will be held at St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Amsterdam, N.Y.

No local visitation is planned.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
