Enos Stambo

Enos Stambo, of Vernon, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013. He was the beloved husband to his wife, Helen, of 51 years; and a loving father and grandfather.

He was born in White Plains, N.Y., on May 14, 1934, graduated from Pleasantville High School, Pleasantville, N.Y., and Iona College, New Rochelle, N.Y. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from the Hartford Insurance Group. Enos was a member of the Rockville United Methodist Church for over 40 years, singing in the church choir and actively participating in the Men's Club. He also served as a church trustee, Men's Club treasurer, and on the Good Friday Walk committee. He was talented in music and sang over many years in the Rockville Choir Festival, the Manchester Gilbert & Sullivan Workshop, the Vernon Chorale, and the Beethoven Chorus. Enos also coordinated American Red Cross blood drives at The Hartford and the church, and in retirement served at the local soup kitchen. With his family, he shared a fondness for the outdoors, sports, travel, and reading.

Enos leaves his children, Paul Stambo, and his wife, Barbara, of South Windsor, Dr. Glenn Stambo, and his wife, Lori, of Tampa, Fla., and Carole Stambo of Vernon; and four grandchildren, Heather, Haley, Nicholas, and Nicole Stambo.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Rockville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow with military honors in Grove Hill Cemetery, Vernon.
