Evelyn Burnham Forster Engdahl

Evelyn Burnham Forster Engdahl, 86, of Vernon, formerly of Avon, beloved wife of the late Harrison E. Engdahl, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013.

Evelyn was born in Willimantic on April 3, 1927, daughter of the late Frederick Forster and Beatrice (Burnham) Forster MacAlpine. She resided most of her adult years in Avon before moving to Vernon in 2002. She retired in 1984 from Connecticut Bank & Trust in Hartford, where she worked as treasurer for more than 30 years. Evelyn was an avid traveler, and a talented amateur photographer. She was a devoted wife and, while she had no children of her own, she loved her extended family, and will be missed by many.

Mrs. Engdahl is survived by two stepsisters, Nancy Pellitier of Manchester and Iva West of Camilla, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Mary MacAlpine of Cape Coral, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, and their families. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Raymond E. MacAlpine.

A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. in East Cemetery (section J-1 veterans), 240 E. Center St., Manchester.
