Fred "Turk" P. Bajek, 84, of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1929, in the Thompsonville section of Enfield to the late John and Agnes Bajek. Fred attended local schools and then enlisted in the service. As a proud member of the U.S. Army
he served his country honorably during the Korean War
. He was employed with Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. until it moved south, then he was employed with Combustion Engineering/ABB, Windsor, for 24 years and retired in 1995. Fred was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
Fred is survived by his four sons, Mark, and his wife Nicole, Timothy, Stephen, and John, and his wife, Beth, all of Longmeadow; his three grandchildren, Trevor, Molly, and Patrick; along with his former wife, Jane (Boudreau) Bajek. He is also survived by three sisters, Stella Bajek of Enfield, Bertha Stolarz of Ellington, and Eleanor Kuhar of Willington; also several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters, Anatolia, Gilbert, John, Ernest, Frank, Gladys, Jane, and Edward.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Gawienowski officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, Massachusetts.
