Helen M. Ener

Helen M. Ener went home to her family from Fenwood Manor in Manchester on Feb. 7, 2013.

She was born Dec. 27, 1922, daughter of George and Mary (Mathein) Wippert. Helen was a lifelong resident of Bolton. She graduated from Manchester High and Willimantic Teachers College. In 1943, her career in teaching started in Bolton in a one-room schoolhouse. In '48 she took a job in Manchester at Lincoln School. After Bowers School was built in 1950, Arthur Illing asked her to teach third grade there. Helen taught in Manchester for 31 years, retiring in 1979. During her retirement, she traveled many places with many friends, by whom she'll be dearly missed. She was very active with the Bolton Congregational Church and touched many lives throughout her life, with her teaching, caring, and generosity.

Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, Willie M. (Tex) Ener. She is survived by many loving neighbors and close friends; and her beloved son from another mother, Stephen.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Fenwood Manor for the excellent care they provided in the last years of her life.

A memorial service will be held at Bolton Congregational Church on March 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Bolton Center Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to the church at 228 Bolton Center Road, Bolton, CT 06043.
