Helen M. (Padegimas) Sobaski, 91, a lifelong resident of Somers, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Evergreen Healthcare Center.
Born on July 31, 1921, in Somersville, she was the loving daughter of the late Anthony F. Padegimas and Adele M. (Matulwicz) Padegimas. Helen was the loving wife of 57 years to the late Harry J. Sobaski. She was employed by the Somersville Mill during World War II for many years. After she and Harry were married, Helen was involved with every aspect of farming, which included crop production, milking cows, raising calves, canning, and preserving. She also enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Helen will be sadly missed by all of her family.
She leaves behind her loving children, Mary E. Knox, and her husband, Paul, of Bradford, Vt., Harry W. Sobaski of Somers, Jane Sheldon, and her husband, Thomas, of West Suffield, and Stephen W. Sobaski, and his wife, Jody, of Somers; her sister, Veronica Franchi, and her husband, Dan, of Glastonbury; her seven loving grandchildren, Timothy and Douglas Pitman, Amy Sepko, Stephen and Brian Sheldon, Houston and Jesse Sobaski; her eight loving great-grandchildren, Grace and Cooper Sheldon, Gavin and Liam Sepko, Timothy, Michael, Madelyn, and Jocelyn Pitman.
There are no visitation hours and burial will be private.
