Helen (Kulas) Tanguay

Helen (Kulas) Tanguay, 90, of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Tanguay.

Helen was born in Plainville, daughter of the late Walter and Zofia (Suckiel) Kulas. She was a lifelong resident and a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was employed by Fafnir Bearing for 37 years prior to her retirement. Helen was an avid bowler, enjoyed her many trips to the casinos, and loved feeding her birds and squirrels.

She is survived by her son, Richard Tanguay, and his wife, Eileen, of Libertyville, Ill.; her daughter, Patricia Johnson, and her husband, William, of Manchester; five grandchildren, Douglas Gentile, Kevin Gentile, Nicole Johnson, Mark Tanguay, Nicholas Tanguay; and six great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by her sisters, Lottie Sikora of New Britain and Jane Piacenti of Newington. She was predeceased by her brother and sister, Stanley Kulas and Sophie Yezierski.

Helen's funeral service will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 9 a.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.

Relatives and friends are invited to call today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Burritt Hill.
