Henry L. "Hank" Blethen

Henry "Hank" L. Blethen, well known as "Coach Hank," of Enfield, passed from his earthly journey at the age of 54 on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, with loved ones at his side at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Hank was the beloved husband of Michelle K. (Blankenship) Blethen.

He was born on June 27, 1959, in Hartford, the son of the late Henry R. and Rita C. (McNally) Blethen. He was a lifelong resident of Enfield, graduate of Enfield High School, Asnuntuck CommunityCollege and Community College of the Air Force. Hank was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. He served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Air National Guard, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Washington Irving Council 50, Enfield, and Elks Lodge BPOE 2222, Enfield. He coached various sports, enjoyed listening to Oldies music, working out, and was an avid Red Sox fan, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with family.

Besides his wife Michelle, Hank is survived by his loving children, Gina Mirando of Florida, Steven Blethen of Boston, Henry Blethen of San Diego, Calif., and Kaitlyn Blethen of Enfield. He is also survived by a brother, Edward J. McCusker, and his wife, Kathy, of Atlanta, Ga.; and a sister, Joanne Rousseau, and her husband, Al, of Seabrook, N.H., along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Norma Anne McCarthy.

Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

The funeral services will take place on Friday, Feb. 7, with the procession forming at 9 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery in Enfield.
