Herman F. Graf

Herman F. Graf, 85, of Manchester, formerly of East Hartford, beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Kisse) Graf, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Manchester Manor with his family at his side.

Herman was born March 9, 1928, in Waterbury, son of the late Herman F. Sr. and Frances (Crocker) Graf and resided in East Hartford most of his life before moving to Manchester in 2010. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Korean War, and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He retired in 1989 as a tool and die maker, after working more than 30 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford. He was a member of the Army & Navy Club of Manchester, an avid 10-pin bowler, a huge Red Sox fan, enjoyed playing setback and especially traveling to Europe annually.

Herman was everyone's uncle, survived by five nieces and two nephews, Lois (Graf) Chapman, and her husband, David, of Manchester, Carol (Graf) Gebhardt of Rockville, Heidi Graf of Windsor Locks, Frances (Graf) O'dell of Bantam, Kelly Lynn (Graf) Vista of Virginia, Donald P. Graf of Bethlehem, Jonathan Graf of Virginia; and several grandnieces, grandnephews, and a great-grandniece. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, John Graf, Donald Graf; and his very special close friend, Audrey Ovansession.

Family and friends may call Thursday, Feb. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service immediately to follow at 7 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.

A graveside service will be Friday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Road, Waterbury.
