James S. "Jimmy" Wilby

James S. "Jimmy" Wilby, 61, of Suffield, entered into eternal life on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Hartford Hospital.

Jimmy was born in Springfield, the son of the late Lewis E. Sr. and Leila (Croteau) Wilby. He resided in Enfield for most of his life and most recently became a resident of Suffield. Jimmy was a graduate of Enfield High School Class of 1970. Prior to retiring, he was employed for 40 years as an operating engineer with Local 478. He was a master mechanic and an accomplished musician, enjoying NASCAR, motorcycle trials, and the Beatles.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Chad S. Wilby of Bridge, Va.; and grandson, Brayden Ledger Wilby of Chandler, Ariz. He also leaves five brothers, Lewis E. Wilby Jr. and wife, Jeanette, of Enfield, Jeffrey M. Wilby of Suffield, Gregory S. Wilby and wife, Cindy, of Dunkirk, Md., Shawn J. Wilby and wife, Denise, of Enfield and Douglas P. Wilby of Sterling, Va.; along with many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was predeceased by his former wife, Deborah Star Wilby.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

Calling hours will be prior to the service from 4 to 7 p.m.
