James White Paxson, 78, of Stafford Springs, beloved husband of Helen (Schultz) Paxson-Waicunas, departed from this earth on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, with his loving family with him.
Born in Hackensack, N.J., son of the late Alfred Moore Paxson, Ph.D. and the late Sarah (White) Paxson, James had lived in Pennsylvania, Indiana, California, and the past 15 years in Stafford Springs. James was a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, class of 1956. He worked as an expert manufacturing engineer for various bearing companies throughout his career. James was a loving family man who cared about everyone.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Nancy Jacobsen and her husband, Owen, of Leicester, N.C., and Joan Baker of Agawam, Mass.; his son, Richard James Paxson and his wife, Marcia, of Southwick, Mass.; two sisters, Bette Van Winkle of Lebanon, Pa., and Alfreda Melvin of Charlottesville, Va.; five granddaughters; and one great-grandson, as well as nieces and nephews. James is also survived by Helen's loving family, Thomas Waicunas of Chicago, Ill., MaryAnn Waicunas of Hartford, Ann Marie Hughes and her husband, Eric, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Brian Waicunas and his wife, Nicole, of Stafford Springs; as well as two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his former wife, Suzanne Conway.
A funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Burial will be at a later date in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs.
A calling hour will be prior to the funeral service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
