Jeannette R. Jones

Jeannette R. Jones, 95, of Somers, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Laconia, N.H., Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013.

Born Aug. 5, 1918, in Enfield, Jeannette was the daughter of the late Julius and Eva (Steele) Smith. Residing her earlier years in Enfield, Jeannette graduated from Enfield High School in 1936 and furthered her education by graduating from Springfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. After relocating to Somers, Jeannette worked as a registered nurse at Springfield Hospital in addition to caring for her family. She attended Somers Congregational Church and in her free time Jeannette found much joy in knitting and working on crossword puzzles. A sports enthusiast, Jeannette enjoyed watching golf, football, and participating on bowling leagues with her late husband, Melvin. She especially loved to cheer on the New England Patriots.

Jeannette will be greatly missed by her son Michael, and his wife, Ginger, of Gilford, N.H.; her daughters, Darcia Malone of Somers and Shauna Gottier of Stafford; three grandchildren, Meghan Malone-Moses, Jacob Gottier, and Jared Gottier; and three great-grandchildren, Quinn, Tynan, and McKenna Moses. Along with her husband and parents, Jeannette is preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Robert, and Raymond Smith.

Funeral services for Jeannette will be private with interment to be held at the convenience of the family.
