John "Jack" Casterline

John "Jack" Casterline, 85, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Caroline (Biernacki) Casterline, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.

He was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Oliver Mills, Pa., son of the late John and Mary (Berger) Casterline. He was a foreman at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 22 years before working as a car salesman for Hoffman Oldsmobile, Ardery Chevrolet, and Cardinal Buick. John was a private first class during World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps., and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Besides his beloved wife, Caroline, of 65 years, he is survived by his loving daughters, Carol Mase, and her husband, Richard, of North Port, Fla., and Shirley Cowles, and her husband, Christopher, of Hebron. He also leaves his grandsons, Michael Carr, and his wife, Reina, and their children, Aiden and Dylan, Justin and Wesley Cowles, and his extended grandchildren, Julianne DeMello, and her husband, Kevin, and their daughter, Grace, and Lynn Drezak, and her partner, Bruce Wagner, and her children, Cassie and Christopher. His siblings, Alice, Ethel, Elva, Lillian, and Harry, predeceased John.

Jack was a sports fan who loved his UConn Huskies, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots, but, most of all, enjoyed watching his three grandsons play ball, fishing together, and golfing. He was a car enthusiast, and greatly enjoyed trips to seaside towns in Maine and loved the ocean.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road (Route 195), Tolland, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a funeral home service to follow at 6 p.m. Burial will be private.
