Joseph Maurice "Maury" Dubois

Joseph "Maury" Maurice Dubois fell asleep in death at home on May 19, 2013, after a long illness.

A former resident of Enfield and a 42-year resident of Somers, he was born in New Britain, the son of the late Ludger and Eveline (Gosselin) Dubois. Joseph was formerly employed as an artist by Hamilton Standard of Windsor Locks and as a manager of technical publications at Coleco Industries of West Hartford, retiring in 1992. He was a very talented artist and musician. Known as Maury Dubois, he was a member of Jim Flaherty's Western Caravan, where he made several recordings and played various venues throughout New England including Lake Compounce, WHYN Radio, and WNBC Channel 30 TV. He formerly served on the Board of Commissioners of the Shaker Pines Fire Department and as president of the Shaker Pines Lake Association.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet (Wyman) Dubois; and two daughters, Diane Dubois Gacona, and her husband, Bernard, of Charlotte, N.C., and Karen Dubois Hyland, and her husband, Christopher, of Woodstock. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Eric Lindquist of South Glastonbury, and Courtney Gacona of North Potomac, Md. He is also survived by two brothers, Raymond Dubois, and his wife, Anita, of Burlington, and Gaston Dubois of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; along with several nieces and nephews. As a member of the Enfield Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses, he also leaves behind many loving spiritual brothers and sisters, as well as many lifelong friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Home and Community Hospice Healthcare of Enfield for their services and compassion during these past weeks.

Visitation hours will be on Thursday, May 23, 2013, from 3 to 6 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Community Hospice Healthcare, P.O. Box 1199, Enfield, CT 06083-1199.
