Josephine (Devlin) Little

Josephine (Devlin) Little, 95, of Rockville, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Vernon Manor.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1918, in Rockville, the daughter of the late George and Johanna (Farrell) Devlin. On Sept. 9, 1940, she married Sterling Little who predeceased her in 2001. Josephine was a lifetime member of St. Bernard Church and the Woman's Guild. She also volunteered hundreds of hours at the Rockville General Hospital Gift Shop. Ster and Jo loved to travel and spent 10 winters in Fort Lauderdale. Our Mom enjoyed reading, knitting, bingo (on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), and baking cookies for all her grandchildren, who also gave her great joy. Many Saturday nights were spent playing pinochle "with the gang." She will most be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her husband, Josephine was predeceased by her sister, Besse Devlin; and brother, George Devlin. She will be greatly missed by her son, Charles, and his wife, Kimberly Little, of Tolland; daughters, Patricia Dimock, and her husband, Richard, of Ellington, Barbara Little, and her husband, Jack Shea, of Ludlow, Mass., and Mary Layman, and her husband, David, of Tolland. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Scott, Rebecca, James, Adam, John, Amanda, Ellyn; and six great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014, at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, April 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Rockville.
