Kenneth Robert Pelkey, 65, of Suffield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012.
Ken was born on June 11, 1947, son of the late Charles J. and Margot (Schmidt) Pelkey, and grew up in Lexington, Mass. In 1966, he joined the Air Force and was assigned to Valdosta, Ga., where he was an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the Air Force in 1970, he returned home and attended East Coast Aero Tech, where he received a degree in aircraft maintenance 18 months later. Ken then went to work for Gull Air down on the Cape. He also worked for Piedmont Airlines, and finished his career with US Air at Bradley Field.
Ken is survived by his brother, Chris Pelkey, and sister-in-law, Madonna, who live in Fairfax Station, Va.; and two nephews, Jamie who lives in Atlanta, Ga., and Justin who lives in Tampa, Fla.
A celebration of life for "KP" will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Chicago Sams, 95 Elm St., Enfield, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Burial will be private at the request of his family.
