Lorraine "Lori" (Ferriere) Read

Lorraine "Lori" (Ferriere) Read, 76, of Melrose Road, Broad Brook, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, with her loving family at her side at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. She was the beloved wife of John W. Read.

Born in Hartford, a daughter of the late Gerard and Clara (Godin) Ferriere, she had lived in Windsor for several years, moving to the Enfield community in 1971. Prior to her retirement in 1987, she was employed for many years at Cigna. Lori was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Church in Enfield and served as a Eucharistic minister. She was active in several parish activities, serving on the Spiritual Formation and Liturgy committees. Lorraine was also a member of the Holy Family choir and the Legion of Mary. She was a member and past president of the Franco-American War Veterans Woman's Auxiliary Post 16. Lori was an amazing puzzle enthusiast and would take on any puzzle that came her way. She enjoyed singing, music, and theater, and was a member of the Mountain Laurel Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, the St. Martha's Players, and the Mark Twain Masquers.

In addition to her devoted husband, John, Lorraine is survived by her six children, Joseph Traczynski, and his wife, Kim, of South Hadley, Mass., Paul Cappa, and his wife, Jane, of Enfield, Joan Woodmancy, and her husband, Keith, of Enfield, Susan Baker, and her husband, Patrick, of Longmeadow, Mass., Gerard Cappa, and his wife, Sheri, of Granby, and Arlene Barile of Enfield; three sisters, Theresa DePaolo of Enfield, Rosemary Martocchio, and her husband, Fred, of Newington, and Beatrice Gallant of LaMirada, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey Traczynski, and his partner, Victoria Udalova, Brian Traczynski, Emily and Juliann Cappa, Amanda Cislak, and her husband, Jeremiah, Sarahanne Woodmancy, Katelyn and Patrick Baker, Lea Lemay, and Ryan Cappa, and his wife, Marieke, and Lauren Cappa; and her great-grandson, Lucas Traczynski. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Ferriere.

Relatives and friends may gather at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, on Wednesday at 9 a.m. for a procession to Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, Enfield.

Lorraine's family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Her family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of memorial donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield, CT 06082.
