Mark A. "Chubber" Fortier

Mark A. "Chubber" Fortier, 54, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Stafford Springs, son of the late Carol B. Fortier and Laurence H. Fortier, III, passed away Oct. 3, 2012, at Bayonet Point Medical Center in Florida.

Mark was born Feb. 20, 1958, in Stafford Springs. He was employed by Dawn Construction prior to his retirement in 2003. The proudest accomplishment in his short life was watching his son, Zack, graduate a scholar from high school and go on to further his education at Bentley. He was an avid Nascar fan and so proud of his brother-in-law, John Hill Jr's accomplishments. He enjoyed traveling, cruising, and spending quality time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cari L. Fortier and son, Zachary R. Fortier. Other survivors include Carla Hill, John and Nancy Hill, Jeannine Brisard, Ann Marie Fortier, Warren and Faye Donnelly, Joe and Brenda Satlin, Carlos and Amanda Ruiz, John Hill, Jr., John and Debra Loughran and S. Ross McDonald; his nephews, Gregory, James, Jake, and Joshua. Not to mention many lifelong amazing friends and extended family.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, at Dobies Funeral Home, Congress St. Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m., with services at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a trust fund for Zachary R. Fortier's education being set up through SunTrust Bank.
