Martha Kate Perkins

Martha Kate Perkins, 43 of Harwich Port, Mass., lost a courageous three-year battle with cancer on Sunday, April 6, 2014.

Martha was born and raised in Manchester. She spent her last years on Cape Cod close to the ocean, which she loved. Martha was an incredibly generous and loving person with an infectious giggle. She was also full of optimism and hope and was an inspiration to us all. She never let her cancer diagnosis get her down; instead she saw it as an opportunity to live her dreams. She traveled all over the United States, went on a cruise to Bermuda, and fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting Ireland. She spent lots of quality time with family and friends and left us all with memories full of love and laughter. Martha had an affinity for owls and always said her sprit would be with the owls when she was gone. We will all take comfort in knowing that she is now free of pain and her spirit is free to fly to visit loved ones near and far.

She leaves behind her siblings James Perkins and his wife, Jessica, and Tim Perkins and fiancée, Tanya Nixon, and Sarah Edwards and husband, Steve; and her nieces and nephew who she loved more than anything, Becky, Sierra, Kelcie, and Quinn. She also leaves behind her aunt Molly Muccio and husband, Dean; and cousins Matt and Marissa Muccio and Heather Smith and husband, Caleb, and their kids Rowin and Kat. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Susan Perkins.

The family is eternally grateful to her hospice team, Rose, Rosie, Deb, and Debbie, and to her friend Sylvia who cared for her in her last days.

Martha wanted donations in her memory to be made to The Family Pantry:
