Max P. Colombaro

Max P. Colombaro, 91, of Rockville, beloved husband of 39 years to the late Gloria H. (Wocel) Colombaro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014.

He was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Bristol to the late Frank and Marcella (Scaramusa) Colombaro.

Besides his parents and wife he was also predeceased by two brothers, Natalino and Gino Colombaro; and his granddaughter, Heather Jensen. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Wayne and Brenda Colombaro of Gilbert, Ariz., David and Laura Colombaro of Oviedo, Fla., John and Jayne Colombaro of Bradenton, Fla., Nancy (Colombaro) Jensen, and her husband, Paul, of Storrs, and Mary Lou, and her wife, Suzanne Colombaro, of Kingston, Pa.; his sisters, Gina (Colombaro) and the late Walter Palmer of Tolland, Clara (Colombaro) and the late George Glass of Bedford, N.H., Rose (Colombaro) and the late Bob Holland of Ellington. He also leaves behind his 11 cherished grandchildren and 12 precious great-grandchildren.

Max served our country in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and after returning from service he married his beloved bride in 1945. He worked at AMF Cuno for several years as a machinist before retiring in 1985. Spending time with family was so important to Max. He loved going to the beach especially in Maine where he would vacation at the family cottage. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, fishing, and tinkering with cars, small appliances, and anything with a motor. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Giants, and UConn women's basketball.

Relatives and friends may gather on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT 06066.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday Feb. 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard's Terrace, Rockville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery located on Kingsbury Avenue, Rockville.
