Mildred A. Maxwell reunited with her beloved husband, Alan, on Nov. 16, 2012, after a 30-year absence.
Millie was born on March 10, 1929. She was the daughter of Orazio and Angelina (Desimone) Scarlato. Millie was a lifelong resident of Manchester and a member of South United Methodist Church. Mille was rich in spirit, and a kind, caring person. "Whatever I have, is yours" was her refrain. She maintained her positive, compassionate, and courageous spirit throughout her life, including her eight-year battle with cancer.
She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Tomlinson and her husband, Burr, of Columbia; her son Glen Maxwell and his wife, Paula, of Etters, Pa.; and grandchildren Kimberly, Burr, Stephanie, and Melanie. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Sophie Scarlato, Gertrude Wright, Peggy Ellsworth, and Judy Maxwell; and stepsister Mary Clough; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Besides her husband, Alan, she was predeceased by brothers Frank, John, Joe, and George Scarlato; sister Marie Burke, stepbrother Tony Margiotta; stepsister Vivian DeNunzio; and sister-in-law Eileen Griswold. Mille leaves many special friends, schoolmates, church members, neighbors, and caregivers, all of whom enriched her life. She also leaves her beautiful black cat, Cutie-Cutie, who brightened the last three years of her life.
The family is grateful for the dedicated and compassionate care provided to Mille by the staff of NorthEastern Pulmonary Associates, and the Critical Care Unit at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
