Patricia A. Griffin

Patricia A. Griffin, 66, of Manchester, beloved wife of James M. Griffin, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Hartford Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

She met the love of her life, Jim, at a singles dance in Glastonbury. Pat and Jim were married in 1986 and made their home together in Manchester. Pat was a member of the Democratic Town Committee in Manchester and often volunteered at the polls on election days. Her husband will always be grateful for her support of his career through the years, always at his side for every United Auto Workers function. She enjoyed knitting, and was known to be a meticulous and strong-willed woman, but she will be remembered for her caring and loving nature.

Besides her husband of over 26 years, James M. Griffin, she is survived by her stepson, James J. Griffin of Rockville; her brothers, Roswell Irish Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Stafford Springs, and Melvin Irish, and his wife, Judy, of Aiken, S.C.; her sister, Charlotte Burkey, and her husband, William, of Stafford Springs; her brother-in-law, James Foley; her aunt, Charlotte Kuglin, and her husband, Walter, of Leesburg, Fla.; dozens of loving nieces and nephews, especially Kimberly Brown, and her husband, Sam, Ryanne Mento, and her husband, Joseph, and Rhonda Gwizdak, and her husband, Donald; and her beloved godson, Austin Brown. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her sister, Roslyn Foley.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
