Patrick Thibodeau

Patrick Thibodeau, 84, a resident of Enfield for the past 54 years, formerly of Hartford and Maine, died early Monday afternoon, April 22, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born and educated in Van Buren, Maine, a son of the late Joseph and Mabel (Laplante) Thibodeau. Pat enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with the 169th Infantry Division. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned to civilian life where he began a career spanning 27 years with the former Royal Typewriter Co. in Hartford. He began his second career in the automobile industry where he held the position of a sales representative for over 30 years beginning with the former Mota Chevrolet of Stafford Springs and retiring from the former Enfield Ford in 2009 after 29 years. During his years at Enfield Ford, he received numerous sales awards including top salesman in the New England area. Pat was an active member of the Enfield Senior Center, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1525, as well as enjoying the game of billiards with his family and friends. He also was a published and accomplished writer, as well as a man who enjoyed music from the '40s and '50s. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Pat is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Bertha E. (Naples) Thibodeau; and leaves two loving children, Patrick Thibodeau II of Washington, D.C., and Nancy T. Maxa, and her companion, John Sarno, of Enfield; a sister, Lillian Dufour of Enfield; and his grandson, Michael T. Maxa, and his companion, Katie Shefrin, of Enfield; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Gingras, Mabel Rodrigue, and Rose Durocher.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
