Pearl J. (Johnson) Hultman

Pearl J. (Johnson) Hultman, of Manchester, passed away Jan. 21, 2012, in Camarillo, Calif.

She was the wife of the late Richard Hultman. Born in Manchester to the late Otto and Hanna Johnson she remained a resident until 2011 when she moved to California to be closer to her daughter. Pearl graduated from South Manchester High School in 1936, was employed by the Commercial Union Insurance Co. for 12 years and then by the State of Connecticut as a secretary in the Manchester Probate Court, retiring in 1980. As a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, she was active in the choir, Lydia Circle, and Bible study group.

Pearl is survived by her daughter Patricia Matthiews; grandson, Rick, and his wife, Erica; two great-grandsons; nieces, Valerie Norris (Jon) and Diane Cornelius (Scott); and nephews, Ron (Barbara) and Rod (Rosemary) Johnson, and their children. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her daughter, Janet.

A memorial service in honor of the 95th anniversary of her birth will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Church St., Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, Pearl asked that donations be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church Structural Preservation Fund.
