Raymond William Grandon Sr.

Raymond William Grandon Sr., 86, lifelong resident of Enfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, April 27, 2014.

He was born on Nov. 12, 1927, in Enfield, the son of the late Lillian LaGrange-Grandon. He was previously employed by Hamilton Standard. Raymond was an avid NASCAR racing fan and enjoyed watching UConn women's basketball games. He served as a Merchant Marine and was a Seabee in the South Pacific. Raymond was re-assigned to the Navy aircraft carrier USS Wright during World War II.

Raymond is survived by his dear friend, Helen Grandon; his beloved children, Gail Grandon, Caron Grandon, Raymond Grandon Jr. and wife, Laurie, Catherine DiSalvo and husband, Peter; his grandchildren, Brian Redfern, and his late wife, Pamela Diamond-Redfern, Christopher Redfern and wife, Jennifer, Nicholas Grandon, Kelly Love, and her husband, Edward, Joshua Venn, and Jennifer Venn; great-grandchildren, Grace and Cooper; and his beloved pets.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Patrick's King St. Cemetery.
