Rhoda (Cole) Burr, 71, of Coventry, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at her home after a long illness.
Rhoda was born in Manchester on Sept. 2, 1942, daughter of the late Albert and Audrey (Nelson) Cole. She graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1960, and resided in Manchester all her life before moving to Coventry 10 years ago. Prior to retiring she had been employed by the Rogers Corporation for more than 20 years. Rhoda was an avid animal lover and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Rob Ames and his wife, Donna, of Ellington; Christina Grimmeisen and her husband, David, of Coventry, with whom she made her home; and Eric Burr of Coventry; five grandchildren, Timothy Ames of Virginia, Audrey Ames and Justin Ames, both of Ellington, Jordan Burr and Morgan Johnson, both in Tennessee; two great-grandchildren, Tristen and Mason Ames in Virginia; a brother and sister, Robert Cole of South Windsor and Sally Gidman of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Manchester Church of the Nazarene, 218 Main St., Manchester.
There are no visiting hours, and burial will be private in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
