Rita M. (Murphy) Saya, 83, of Ellington, widow of Donald F. Saya, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012.
She was born on the Feast of Assumption, Aug. 15, 1929, in Hartford, the second of three daughters of the late John and Mary Murphy. She was married to her loving and caring husband for 47 years. Rita was a loyal member of St. Joseph Church in Rockville. Her happiest memories would have included the many summers spent at the family cottage at Old Lyme Shores. Thank you, Mom. We love you very much.
She is survived by five children, John of Ellington, Donna and Joseph Sokolowski of St. Louis, Mo., Patricia of Rocky Hill, Don and Yang of Hebron, and James and Brenda of Tolland; and six grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, Kelly, Kasey, Colleen, and Graham. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Delaney and Betty Mitchell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 33 West St., Rockville. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
At the families' request, there will be no calling hours.
