Robert Edward Hufford, 81, passed from this world on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, and into the loving arms of his wife, Phylis.
He was born in Ohio on May 11, 1931, to the late John L. and Florence M. Hufford and raised in Dayton, Ohio, until he joined the Navy at 17. He moved to Connecticut and settled in Coventry for 30 years. He then moved to Port Orange, Fla. Bob worked at Pratt & Whitney for 35 years and traveled around the world, both for work and pleasure. His interests lay with UConn girls basketball, books, playing cards (cribbage and pinochle), and an avid Indy fan. Bob was a Master Mason and a member of Uriel Lodge No. 24.
He was predeceased by his wife, Phylis, in 2006, and baby daughter, Linda. He is survived by his two daughters, Sandie, and her husband, Mark Sundin, of Windsor Locks, Brenda, and her husband, Jeff Norris, of Enfield; and his son, Steve, and his wife, Jackie, of Delaware, Ohio; five grandchildren, Mark, Carl, Billy, Heather, and Kyle; and two great-granddaughters, Gabriella and Ariana; two sisters, Barbara Smith of Vandalia, Ohio, Shirley Hegeman, and her husband, John, of Oneonta, N.Y.; and a brother, John Richard, and his wife, Linda, of Vandalia, Ohio; along with several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at the United Methodist Church of Bolton, 1041 Boston Turnpike, Bolton. Burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester, and will be private.
