Robert Thomas Coughlin, 86, of Enfield, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, March 21, 2013, at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 21, 1926, and moved from Euclid, Ohio, to Enfield in 1958. Robert was the son of the late Louis and Julia (Apanovich) Coughlin. Robert was a veteran of World War II
, serving with the United States Army
Co. T 26th Infantry Regiment and the 80th Infantry Division in Central Europe Theater of Operations and was the recipient of several citations and awards. Robert was employed for 46 years as a wire weaver for the former Holyoke Wire and Cloth Co. weaving fourdrinier wire. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the 48 states and Europe. Bob also as well very much enjoyed his everyday crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Doris (Musser) Coughlin, and leaves a daughter, Jayne Tuller, and her husband, Oliver, of West Simsbury; three sons, Thomas Coughlin of Vernon, William Coughlin, and his wife, Kelley, of Agawam, Mass., and Kevin Coughlin, and his wife, Deborah, of Springfield; 11 loving grandchildren, Nichole Ayotte Bull, Jamie Ayotte, Thomas, Stefanie, Felicia, and Tyler Coughlin, Justin and Joseph Tuller, and Mary Tuller-Budd, and Stephanie and Amanda Hendrix; 11 loving great-grandchildren, Lenny, Stephen, and Samantha Bull, Brianna, Gabriella, and Addison Coughlin, William and Ciera Green, Madeleine Ayotte, and Connor and Chloe Sullivan. Bob was predeceased by his sons, Robert James Coughlin and James Michael Coughlin.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 8:45 a.m. from the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 64 Pearl St., with burial and military honors to conclude at St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, (Route 5) both in Enfield.
