Virginia (Quijano) Recato

Virginia (Quijano) Recato, 91, a resident of Enfield since 1980, formerly of Warehouse Point, Windsor Locks, and the Philippines, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2013, at Kindred Care of Windsor.

She was born and educated in the Philippines and was employed for many years with the ARA Service group at Bradley International Airport, retiring in the late 1980s. Virginia was a communicant of Holy Family Church of Enfield, enjoyed socializing and cooking for her family and friends, as well as being an experienced and accomplished ballroom dancer. She possessed a wonderful and infectious smile that could light up a room upon her arrival.

She leaves her devoted husband and best friend of 75 years, Guillermo M. "Willie" Recato who celebrated their 75th anniversary on Jan. 16, 2013. Besides her husband, she leaves three loving children, Ernesto Q. Recato of East Hartford, Eleanor Q. Scherrer and her husband, Jacob, of Enfield and Florida, and Edrosa Q. Recato of Enfield; a sister, Erlinda Rabago of Delano, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Milagros Raymundo in 2012.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 12:30 p.m. from the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield. Burial will be private.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home in Windsor Locks on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
