Warren Richard Amundsen, 87, of Moody Hollow, Center Tuftonboro, N.H., passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at his residence, with his family by his side.
Warren was born on Dec. 4, 1925, in Gardner, Mass., the son of Otto Edvin and Gurlie (Moody) Amundsen, and moved to Dover, N.H., in 1935. Warren served his country with honor during World War II
, in the 347th Infantry, 2nd Battalion, and was awarded three Bronze Stars
and the Purple Heart
. Employed by United Technologies in East Hartford, Warren retired as payroll supervisor for the research facility after 34 years of service.
Warren is survived by his sons, Richard Amundsen and his wife, Alicia, and Bruce Amundsen and his wife, Lisa, both of Bolton; his sister, BettyJane Amundsen, who made her home with Warren; along with four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Margaret (Ayer) Amundsen, as well as his parents.
The family is grateful for his caregivers who provided comfort, compassion, and dignity for Warren, Doug Thompson and Cindy Smart.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013, at Wiggin-Purdy-McCooey-Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. with Pastor Richard Rhoades officiating. Interment will be immediately following at Pine Hill Cemetery, 131 Central Ave, Dover, N.H., with military honors.
