Winifred E. Kelly

Winifred E. Kelly, 92, formerly of East Windsor, loving wife of the late Frank A. Kelly Jr. died peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014.

Winifred was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., the daughter of the late Edwin and Grace (Gallup) Eager. She lived most of her childhood in Vermont before meeting her husband, Frank. Winifred and Frank lived for more than 40 years in the cobblestone home that they built in East Windsor. Winifred had worked for Consolidated Freightways Trucking for many years as a bookkeeper while tending to her family.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 1 East at Vernon Manor, especially Laura and Linda for their professional and compassionate care.

Winifred is survived by her children, Myron "Mike" Kelly and Darlene-Dee Martin of Coventry, David Kelly and wife, Michelle, of South Windsor, Richard Kelly and wife, Darlene, of Somers; brother-in-law, Fred Kelly; her grandchildren, Brian Kelly, Jane Kelly, Jillian Kelly, Devin Kelly, Jennifer Stewart, and her husband, Tony, and Rebecca Choinski and husband, Neil; step-granddaughter, Sonya Martin; four great-grandchildren; her nephew and his family, Edgar Kelly; many other nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend, Gerda Mikkelsen.

A funeral service officiated by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Calderone will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 124 Scantic Road, East Windsor. Burial will follow in Scantic Cemetery. Following the burial a reception will be held in the church hall. There are no visiting hours.
