Gary Sartori Obituary

Gary J. Sartori, 54, of 68 Main St., in Windsor Locks, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness.

The son of Louis C. and Nadine M Sartori (both deceased), was born on May 2, 1962, in Hartford and was a resident of Windsor Locks for most of his too brief life. Gary graduated from Windsor Locks High School in 1981. Gary was employed in the dairy and frozen foods department of Geissler's Supermarkets in East Windsor.

Gary's interests included the weather, history, reading, and he was an avid sports fan, especially of Notre Dame football, the Yankees, the Dolphins, and the Carolina Hurricanes. He was also a racing fan and followed Jeff Gordon's career closely. He was also an avid Wii bowler at the Windsor Locks Senior Center and bowled numerous 300 games. He also volunteered to call bingo at the center during the week.

Gary is survived by his brothers, William, of Windsor Locks, Richard and Karen Sartori of Barnstead, New Hampshire; and sister, Kathy and her husband, Jim Fontana, of Windsor Locks. He is also survived by his nephew, Jim Fontana; and niece, Taylor Fontana.

Gary will be cremated by Abbey Cremation Services of Rocky Hill.

I just learned of Gary's passing and am stunned with disbelief. Gary was a genuine human being, filled with kindness and compassion for everyone he knew. We met in middle school and became friends immediately. Although I hadn't seen him in a number of years, we have had some lively conversation on social media. Gary will be missed, and I extend my most heartfelt condolences to his family.

Gary. It is so appropriate to light a candle for you. You lit a candle with your kindness towards Jonathan and your friendship to anyone who was blessed by your friendship. You will be alive in many people's heart for a long time to come. You will be sorely missed on earth, but your spirit will live forever.

I was so saddened to hear of Gary's passing. He was a great friend to my mother Betty at the senior center and when I threw a surprise 75th birthday party for her in March he was the first one at the senior center helping me decorate and set up and even offered to call bingo for us at the party. He will be deeply missed by all of the senior center and customers of Geisslers . He was truly a nice man
