Joseph Basile Obituary
He was born on April 23, 1922, in Hartford, and was the son of the late Sebastiano and Palma (Randazzo) Basile. Joe lived in Hartford most of his life prior to moving to South Windsor six years ago. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. Joe was a barber and owned several shops throughout the Hartford area.
Joe is survived by his sons, Sebastian Basile, and his wife, Theresa, of Manchester, Michael Basile, and his wife, Marianne, of Manchester, and Joseph Basile of East Hampton; a brother, Zip Basile of Hartford; his daughter-in-law, Carol Basile of Newington; his seven grandchildren, Richard Basile, and his wife, Lizette, Shirley LaRosa, and her husband, Michael, Vincent Basile, and his wife, Lorena, Sarah Prenetta, and her husband, Rich, Kristin Conroy, and her husband, Joshua, Ryan Basile and Michael "Mikey" Basile; and 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

My sincere condolences to the Basile family. It was a privilege to be able to spend some time with your father even for a little while. He was a kind and caring individual who loved his family. Joe talked about his late wife often about how much he missed her but he was very grateful that their boys were there for him - 2 of them he saw often and the other still saw him still every wk. He always told me to do my best. God bless the Basile family. Joe was so proud of all of you.

Dear Basile Family,
I couldn't pass on this opportunity to offer you all my condolences. Your dad was always known to the kids in the Vine/Capen St neighborhood in Hartford's North End as "Joe The Barber". He used to cut my hair for 60 cents in the 1946-50 period when I was a grammar school kid. Did a good job, too. Now that I'm 76, this brings back mixed emotions of the "happy days" of my youth, and the sadness of knowing he is gone.
I thank him for his service to our country, and pray that he'll rest in peace.
