Yolanta Wawrzenski Obituary

Yolanta "Yola" J. (Stachowicz) Wawrzenski, "Mrs. W.," Mom, and Auntie "YoYo," our angel here on Earth passed on, to be an angel in heaven, peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home at the young age of 54 on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010.

She was the beloved wife of 30 years to Richard Wawrzenski of Enfield and loving daughter of Tadeusz and Czeslawa (Szymanska) Stachowicz of New Britain. She was born on March 30, 1955, in Slough, England, and resided for the past 30 years in Enfield and in New Britain before that. Yola was a graduate of Pulaski High School, New Britain, Class of 1973 and went on to receive her bachelor of science degree in physical education from Central Connecticut State University. She enjoyed supporting her beautiful children with all of their activities. You only needed to be around her for a very short period of time and she was in your life forever. Everyone knew Yola for her smile, her laugh, and her vibrant personality. Her heart was filled with not only family and friends, but also the students that she taught in the five Catholic schools for 30 years here in Enfield. In her spare time, she enjoyed vacationing with her family, camping, spending time at the beach, walking around the block, and sharing laughter with good friends and neighbors over her favorite beverage … hot tea.

Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by her loving children, Eric, Lauren, and Chelsea Wawrzenski, all of Enfield; a sister, Renata Luciano of New Britain; a brother, Andrew Stachowicz, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Aberdeen, N.C.; her mother-in-law, Mildred Wawrzenski of New Britain; two sisters-in-law, Gail Kardok, and husband, Robert, of New Britain and Lori Caruso, and husband, Bill, of Portland; nieces and nephews, Ted Luciano, Amber Kardok, Michael Kardok, Kayla Caruso, Nicole Caruso, and Deidra Caruso; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by an aunt, Frances Olkowicz, and her father-in-law, Richard Wawrzenski Sr.

Yola's favorite time of year was Christmas. To share in her love of the holiday, her family asks that relatives and friends bring an ornament to place on her Christmas tree.

Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Yolanta's life will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, Enfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Dr. Berlin, c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute for Ovarian Cancer Research, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115, or the Wawrzenski Children's Education Fund, c/o Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union, 182 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082.

Rick, our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We shared something in common - marrying our high school sweetheart. Yola was a special girl - she just lit up the room with her genuine warmth and friendliness. It is quite apparent she touched many lives in her short time here. We hope you find peace and comfort in knowing she is in God's loving arms dancing on streets of gold. She was truly special. Rick, our hearts go out to you.

I am very fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with Yola at St. Joseph School. And a pleasure it was! Yola lit up the room with her contagious smile and wit.

Yola's kindness and understanding of and/or toward her students was immeasurable. Yola taught more than Phys Ed. She taught compassion, diversity and tolerance. She was a extrodinary woman who touched so many.

My sincere condolences to her family, friends, and co-workers. Memories are etched in our hearts forever.

O tender love
move my spirit deeper
add more oxygen to my passions fire
raise my desire
Inspire my courage and bravery
Come and quench the frail hour
Come with Thy Holy Power
For You are my provider
Bring the darkness into the light
where there’s no more sins
no more doubts
and no more fears
For You have wiped all my tears and sins away.

I am very sorry to hear of Yola's passing. Her love will be remembered for a long long time.

Yes, Yola's smile. Her cheerful attitude. Others have already mentioned some of the best qualities about her. One could always feel at ease around Yola. Accepted, as it should be with family. As always, from one who hasn't been around to visit, wishes for more time...more opportunities. I love you Yola. God's peace to the Wawrzenskis and my dear Stachowicz family, as well as the many family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Yola's passing- She was my first friend at Pulaski ( we met through our older sisters who were friends) Always had a smile and a good word to say. And though we drifted apart after highschool I will always remember "Yolie" with a fond heart. My sympathy to her family.

I am good friends with Yolanta's son, Eric. She was such a kind woman and always there for us. I could confide in her and she'd give me positive words of encouragement. She always stuck by Eric's side no matter what, and believed in him. She was a great Mother to all. I wish I had known her longer, but within the years I have gotten to know her, she always had a vibrant smile, and always let people know that she cared. God gained an Angel, and we have lost one. My deepest sympathy's go out to Yolanta's family.
