Allen Ralph Black

Allen Ralph Black, 65, of Manchester, beloved husband of 44 years to Jan (Roth) Black, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Born in Savannah, Ga., the son of Inez (Turner) Black of Rockville and the late Laura Black, he lived in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Rockville before moving to Manchester two years ago. He was a carpet mechanic and installer and he owned and operated the Allen R. Black Installation Service in Rockville for many years prior to his retirement. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Ralph was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ellington. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and his mother, Ralph is survived by his children, Sheri Quatrale, and her partner, Brenda Moor, of Bangor, Maine, Cynthia Black of Ellington, Jennifer Black of Manchester, Victoria Turk, and her husband, David, of Stafford, Jason Black, and his wife, Janice, of Mansfield, Heather Hmieleski, and her husband, Brad, of Enfield, David Black of East Hartford and John Black of Rockville; six grandchildren, Christine, Tor, Alana, Owen, Helena, and Alan; a brother, Ronald Black, and his wife, Jeanie, of Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2 Maple St., Ellington. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville.
