Anthony DeBottis Obituary

Anthony Philip DeBottis, 71, loving husband of Ruth (LaPrate) DeBottis, passed peacefully on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Johnson Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

A longtime resident of Enfield, he was born on June 7, 1942, in Syracuse, N.Y., son of the late Joseph DeBottis and Pearl (Lincoln) Rowe. Anthony proudly served his country during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Army, and he was an executive for many wholesale and retail grocery companies throughout his career. Anthony enjoyed his retirement and especially loved gardening, traveling, and spending winters in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Most precious to him was time spent with his family and friends. Anthony could be found every morning at Dunkin' Donuts visiting with the "Regulars."

In addition to his wife, Ruth, Anthony will be lovingly remembered by his children, Deborah Bedford, and her husband, Marshall, of Hastings, N.Y., Tony DeBottis, and his wife, Deborah, of Enfield, Christine Cross of Roswell, Ga., Glen DeBottis, and his wife, Deborah, of Ellington, Toni Bannock, and her husband, Clayton, of Ellington, and Joseph DeBottis, and his wife, Deborah, of Quincy, Mass.; his grandchildren, Shannon Clarno, and her husband, Derek, Stephanie, Lillian, and Leah Bannock, Christen Tamuty, and Wayne, Charliee, and Chelsea DeBottis; his great-grandchildren, Alora Clarno and Isabella Miller; his brothers, Joseph DeBottis, and his wife, Lauretta, Julius Krahl, and Thane Vinton Krahl, and his wife, Jackie; and his sisters, Judith Cook, DeEtte Church, and her husband, Gerald, Dawn Eaton, and Christine Ladd. Anthony's family extends their appreciation to the staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital and its cancer center for its compassionate loving care.

A service celebrating Anthony's life will be held at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. preceded by visitation from noon to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Anthony's memory be made to the Jimmy Fund Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 649168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
